Performances that never happened are assertions and stories that could have happened one way or another. In Performances that Never Happened I have worked with the format of the flyer (p.1), drawing, photographs, performative interactions, and fictional photo collages, subverting the numbing call for authentic documentation.
Once a Spanish exchange student presented her work. She showed a lot of photos of performances, when nowadays video recordings are in demand everywhere.
Then she pointed to a photo showing an empty room. "I danced behind this wall," she said.
I asked her by e-mail if she could send me the photo. But she did not get in touch.
