Woman laughing alone with salad originated from the search engine-optimized term, ”Women laughing alone with salad”. Using that term you will find lean smiling women with natural make-up, bright clothes in an inviting setting, who eat green or mixed salad. Referring to a psychopathology of fatness and the corresponding pictorial propaganda in which overweight people are represented as ”fat, lazy and stupid,” these (re)presentations are thwarted in the work.
The photo-food-art-work Woman laughing alone with salad as well as the offical part Daddy's little Girl lädt zum Essen (Daddy's little Girl invites for dinner) is a continuation of the work cycle „Redefining Fat Identity“. I would like to point out a hardly questioned discrimination of fat people and different bodies in general on a daily basis. Especially bodies of fat people are sensitive targets for arguments of different political and medical views. But, what is more, I would like to strengthen enjoyment in connection with contemplation, sensibilities and downshifting.

EIGHT shows works of eight international and local artists which discuss Performance Art from different angles. Especially artists who to a great extent work live were invited to translate their
works into an exhibition context - two contractory levels meet each other. Four international artists were chosen to work in Atelierhaus Salzamt for a month to have the opportunity to make new
works for the exhibition.
